crafting bad.

What a whirlwind weekend! What was supposed to be a small get-together to welcome Cara to Paris, manifested itself to what will always remembered as The Champagne Social. After one wine-fueled meeting, a trip to Ikea, Pinterest exchanges and many emails with Lauren the décoratrice mastermind, the decor went from having a few scattered candles and a vase of flowers to a project with more glitter than Liberace would know what to do with.

Spending the weekend at the gorgeous Oberkampf loft that Habitat Parisien was kind enough to give us access to for the installation, we decided to document our efforts with a short montage.

Two girls in Paris prove that crafting is a serious undertaking not to be dismissed as a mere girlish hobby. A spoof of this scene on AMC's "Breaking Bad", please enjoy the Pinterest version of Jesse and Walt in "Crafting Bad".

    1. Duchess, I have glitter in my scalp like some kind of disco dandruff. It also managed to travel from the loft to my apartment. It's everywhere! I'm glad you like the video! We do too!

    3. If you're gonna have dandruff, might as well be the glittery kind!;)). (Damn iPad keeps adding typos to my messages!)

  5. You guys really put a splendid spread - from the adorable video to the divine disco-photo-corner the fete was fabulous! (although I suspect Aurelien didn't quite approve of my debauched bossiness at getting everyone to stick their tongues at the lens!)

    1. The disco photo corner that we tried to squeeze like ten people "into". Hahaha, that was the best, even though the lighting was horrifically honest.

Aurelien I'm sure wasn't offended by your request! It takes a lot with him... I had such a blast with you! Thank you for coming! I always have so much fun with you!!

  10. Oh. My. God! That was great. I am so glad to see I won't be alone when I get my craft on...it's serious business, ya know?!?! Party looked beautiful :)

    1. Thank you! Hahaha! Crafting is serious business, right? Just an FYI...supplies here are expensive. That little glitter tube was almost 4 euros. That's why I always stock up at Michael's (with my coupons) when I'm in the States because I can't afford it here. Only for emergencies like champagne parties!

  11. Nice camera work Aurélien! But how many takes did you have before you managed to keep a straight face? Looking forward to photos of the big night! x

    1. Didn't he do a great job? The first version of the video was put on Youtube and they asked me if I wanted to stabilize any shaking bits, so of course I said yes. Gwan, their "stabilizer" made the video look like pure merde. It was awful. So now it's back to being pretty on Vimeo with Aurelien's camera basking in all its glory.

The masks helped to cover up the laughing. ; )

    1. Hi Karina!

I'm editing photos now and will have them up in a day or so. There are so many, I can't choose! The glitter really made the event magical. It was like a wonderland!

      Thank you for commenting!

  14. Wonderful video. Very bad ass in a way more chic and less gritty way than Breaking Bad. Not that I don't love Breaking Bad.

My cat was sitting by the computer when I started it and he sprinted away like he was being chased. Think it was the music! Or maybe he sensed the French of it. He cries and paws at me if I listen to the French Duolingo lady.

    1. When writing the montage, I initially was going to do something ultra girly with like Brigitte Bardot as the soundtrack, but when I looked at our materials and everything was pink and silver, and the apartment had those crystal chandeliers, I was like this is girly as is, so let's contrast it a bit. And being a BB fan, I figured it would be a fun spoof.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!

  15. Confession: I watched it three times after you posted it on FB. I swear I'm not a stalker, I was just in awe of the cool factor.

    1. Not stalker at all! I'm glad you enjoyed it! We were hoping you guys would love it as much as we do, as we see that you do. It's super rewarding.

It's a spoof of an actual scene in BB with the same music and idea but you know we subbed out blue meth for glitter and sunny New Mexico for rainy Paris (Season 5, episode 3, if anyone is curious) !

  16. Quite the crafting badass indeed! Loved the video! That getup would be very useful for a person like me. If I'm around that much glitter, I would be wearing it.
