Sea, Sex and Sun...

Sea, sex and sun...two of these are true, and since we are on vacation with my grandparents, I'll leave it up to you to decide on the two. It shouldn't be too hard...God, I hope.

Here I am, another summer and another vacation in the Bahamas with my family, but this time, I with Aurelien who will now become witness to all the mayhem and malarkey that comes with traveling with us. He has already caught me poolside reenacting Steve Martin's part in the "My Blue Heaven" dance scene, alone, to reggae music, with the house cocktail "Goombay Smash" in my hand.

Again, this is his chance to get out while he can.

(Update: Wanting to mix things up a bit, today's entertainment was me crawling out of the ocean and growling like a lion, reminiscent of Abigail Breslin's dance in Little Miss Sunshine. Late morning Goombay Smashes have officially been prohibited. All cocktails now begin at a reasonable hour: 3pm)

I hope you're all having a fabulous end of summer! Is it just me who doesn't want it to end?!

What was going on a year ago today-ish? Not much different than today, except I was rolling in the sand, reenacting Madonna's "Cherish" video drunk on Goombay Smashes after my grandmother's epic over-share!

Again, I love summer.

  1. I'm thinking it's pouring down rain so you're stuck inside next to the sea having lots and lots of sex! Quiet sex so the grandparents don't hear ;-)

    1. The rain has shuffled to the Bahamas and have spent a nice cloudy day in catching up on "stuff" while my grandparents go grocery shopping for dinner. When I say grocery shopping, I mean my grandfather bargaining for the best fish and price with Bahamians under the Nassau bridge.

      Never a dull moment!

    1. We stay at several. This year, we're at a family friends condo on Paradise Island. We've stayed at Paradise Island Beach Club, the Atlantis and the Ocean Club. It depends on the year, the time of year...but all of those places offer a fabulous experience.

The PIBC is my favorite! Less crowded and less pretentious! :)

  6. Seb is there, so I suppose that it's all three, now?;)

We just booked a holiday in Jamaica in two week's time... but I'll have to take some work with me... oh well:) I did in Venice and Boston, so I guess it's to be expected in Montego Bay as well:)

Ottawa today is reminiscent of The Hague: rainy and grey. But since I'm cooped up inside with my articles, highlighter and notebook, I couldn't care less:)

Enjoy your time in the Bahamas! Are you flying back to Paris with Seb?

    Ewwwwwwwwwww your grandma's overshare...

    Bisous

    1. Hahaha, not really all three but that's okay. We'll be back in Paris soon enough, so there will be plenty of time to catch up. ; )

Oooooh Jamaica! I've never been! There's something glamourous about doing work in warm tropical weather. Just be sure to allow cocktail hour to strictly start at 4!! No excuses!!

It's rainy and grey here today, but ça va, everyday can't be paradise!

      Enjoy your MUCH DESERVED vacation!!!

      Bisous!

  7. The Bahamas look lovely! And no, I cannot complete Summer is almost over. In fact, the back to school commercials (still) and talk of the upcoming NFL season just depresses me...

Enjoy your vacation and I vote drinking Goombay Smashes (never heard of them before!) anytime of the day on vacation is totally reasonable. Even if Little Miss Sunshine reenactments do come out.

    1. The back-to-school commercials are driving me nuts! Now that it's mid-August (already?!) I can accept it, but these suckers started airing after the 4th of July! So not acceptable!! Before long the Christmas commercials will start creeping in!

A Goombay Smash is named after the Bahamas' signature pineapple soda called Goombay Punch. So a Goombay Smash is sort of like an L.I Iced Tea or a Mai Tai, add a lot of booze, add a splash of Pineapple juice, the punch, and some grenadine. In short, a gazillion calories!!
