Girls on the Radio!

I am so pleased to announce my guest spot on Doni Belau's show Girl's Guide to Paris on the Overseas Radio Network! I do slip and give up my real name, as well as share some big news...so I guess some kitties are out of the bag!

I wanted to touch on one thing before you listen. These are tongue-in-cheek observations based on my own experiences, not generalizations. I know that there are many different takes on comparing dating in the States versus dating in France, and these are just my stories. Yes, I have dated some real jerks in America but have nothing against American men. I'm related to a ton of them!

Click on June 11th, Hour 2 to hear, well my voice, and my take on Love in The City of Light!

I was so nervous, but had a blast! Thank you Doni for having me! Check out her site  Girls Guide to Paris for all things fabulous for les femmes dans Paris!!

What was happening a year ago today? This!

  3. That was really cute :)

I guess this means I can't sing "Under my Umbrella, Ella Ella Ella" in my very best Rihanna impression when I meet you. You were going to be so impressed!

    congrats on the news!

    1. For the blog I will always be Ella, my alter ego! But in real life, like when I meet blogger pals, I always use my real name. I'm not like in hiding! LOL!

You can sing Rhianna to me anytime...just not that stupid "I love the way you lie song" I hate that song with a passion.

      Thanks for the comment, Em!

OMG Ella!!! You are as charming on the radio as you are on your blog -- if not more (what an adorable laugh!). I'm dying to meet you, even more than before! You are so fun :)

Congrats on the PACS. I'm looking for a job ATM.. Perhaps my search will extend up to Paris. I'm still thinking of visiting soon -- hoping you'll be around..? Cinnamon margarita ? ha

    2. Thank you so much Dana!!! Your comment is making me smile right now. I am, as I think we all are, self-conscience about my voice, but I thought this went okay. I was super nervous before I went on! I'm glad it entertained you all!

Yes, when you're in town, we'll hit up La Perla for vanilla and cinnamon margs! The problem is that they go down a little toooooooo easy!

Thanks for the well wishes on the PACS! I can't believe we're actually going to do it! Ch-ch-changes!

  6. haha that was great! I really enjoyed listening! Congrats on on the pacs/pax?!! I suppose that's France's version of a civil union? I need to do that here in Spain now that my residency has become really precarious! Spot on about French men, it's the same here though sometimes it still throws me for a loop and I think guys are too attentive :P

    1. Thanks so much Liz! Yes, PACS is similar to a civil union packed with benefits for us both.

I figured it was similar in Spain and Italy, but since I never dated guys from those countries, I kept my comments based on my own experiences. I had a sneaking suspicion that there were similarities with the three cultures. Thanks for confirming. And thanks for listening!!!

  7. Woo hoo! Your voice and laugh are PERFECT for radio, television, movies...whatever path you decide to follow! Congratulations on your upcoming PACs with Seb. I'm so, so, so happy for both of you. And kudos for an excellent interview. As a sign of how much I enjoyed it, I actually listened to the entire thing even though the commercials were excruciating.

    1. Oh my, really!? Thank you so much MK! My New York accent makes me cringe sometimes. I totally said "cawfee" which is a pet peeve of mine! It's even worse when it comes out when I speak French!

Thank you for the well wishes. The PACS has been in the works for months now, and in a future post I will share why I have waited to tell you all, and why we're not getting married. There's a reason for everything!

Oy vey, those commercials were awful, so I thank you for sitting through them! And as always, thank you for your support!

After I read your post, I made a BST sandwhich (had to sub out the lettuce for spinach) but again, it was the bacon that made it just perfect. Thanks for the food-spiration! :)

    1. Must you make everything sexual? It's like you can't resist....

      he he he.

Thanks for listening and sitting through those commercials. The arm one was just awful!! "I was only buzzed" as we hear the girl ripping her arm off. wtf...!!!!

      Thanks again Gabe!

  11. Awesome interview, Ella and I loved that I picked up on your NY accent immediately. Also thanks for the tips, I tend to stick to the places I already know so you'll usually find me in Belleville at Cafe Cheri(e). So I'm super excited to try new places next time I'm in town and the first one will probably be La Perle.

great interview. fantastic anecdotes. awesome accent. :)

    1. Thanks Sue! I'm so self-conscience about my NY accent and try to smooth it out, but it creeps back in, even in French. Oh well! I'm glad you appreciated it! : )

Thank you so much for your comment and I hope our paths cross when you're in town!!

      xo!!!

      Merci Duchess! J'aurais dû t'envoyer un e-mail!

  15. I heard about your interview when I started receiving emails saying, "omg, Doni just talked about your pacs on the radio with Ella." I wonder what other secrets were un-knowingly divulged in that infamous interview.

    1. Ah, so you were "the friend". How funny!!! That would make total sense since you are a contributor on Girl's Guide!

Tons of things came out during this interview, my name, my PACS, and the worst...my New York accent! LOL! I enjoyed chatting with Doni, she's great!

Thanks for dropping a note, Sylvia!
