Day 194: Make a "Casse-Toi" Playlist!

I recently received an e-mail from Monsieur Flâneur. I know, what is it now? Apparently he saw photos of Kitty's wedding and wanted to tell me that I looked beautiful.

His e-mail was nice but it's about six months too late.

I admit that the message warmed my heart and opened some old feelings - for a hot, fleeting second before I was swiftly brought back to reality and thought about everything that has happened since the break-up in February.

I do forgive MF...but from a distance. If it wasn't for this experience, I wouldn't have overcome challenges that have helped me grow into who I am now; someone stronger, wiser and more aware. I also wouldn't have met the new friends in my life who support and inspire me where before I was surrounding myself with toxic, negative and judgmental people. Whenever I doubt my decision to emotionally move on or if I soften up after getting a little attention from him, I listen to this playlist that reminds me that we just weren't meant to be...to say the very least.

Lady Gaga - Marry the Night
Marianne Faithfull - Why D'ya Do It?
Liz Phair - 6" 1'
Amy Winehouse - In My Bed
Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
Madonna - Sorry
Lunachicks - Don't Want You
Christina Aguilera - Slow Down Baby
Faith Evans - You Gets No Love
Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder
Aerosmith - Cryin'
Brigitte Bardot - Ne me laisser pas l'aimer
Scandal - Goodbye to You
Sheryl Crow - Don't Hurt
Duffy - Delayed Devotion
Jennifer Lopez - Ain't It Funny (Remix)
Sebadoh - Ocean
Rolling Stones - Under My Thumb
Britney Spears - Stronger
Linda Ronstadt - You're No Good

@Sara Louise - I remember listening to this album when I was like 13 and pretending that I understood and really felt the lyrics. My mom wasn't too pleased, especially the song "Fuck and Run". She was like "what do you know about that!?". Gen X must have been torturous on our parents!

@Dana - Youtube playlists are the best! Have fun!

..and his e-mail doesn't mean anything other than checking to see if I'm still in love with his olive branch gesture. He's not making any grand moves here. It's so funny that he reads the blog...he will see this comment. Je m'en fou! It's safe to say that I'm close to 100% 'ova' him!
    Thank God.

  4. I was expecting "Fuck You (Don't Want You Back)" by whoever that guy is, or "Fuck You" by Lily Allen when I saw the post title. Guess my imaginary casse-toi playlists are a bit on the sweary side :)
    And yay for moving on!

  5. Good for you that those old feelings only lasted a second. Really - that guy doesn't deserve a second glance from you! MF being safely in the past is just one more thing for you to be thankful for on Thanksgiving.

I'm going to have to spend some time over on YouTube and figure out how you're making the playlists.

  7. Double yay for moving on! Another good one is Beyonce's, Best Thing I Never Had. The original is a little slow and the video is a little peculiar, buuut the lyrics are perfect and the dance remix version is great for working it out at the gym. :)
